Abstract
Birth control pills are a type of hormonal contraception that aims to prevent or inhibit pregnancy. The success of birth control pills requires high compliance. Knowledge also determines the mother's compliance in using birth control pills. Someone with a higher level of knowledge tends to be more obedient in taking birth control pills. This study aimed at determining the relationship between mothers’ knowledge level about birth control pills in Harjosari Kidul Village, Tegal Regency. This study used a quantitative analytic method with a cross sectional research design. The sample amounted to 100 mothers, sampling was done by quota sampling technique. Data were collected from respondents using a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using Chi Square with alpha <0.05. The results showed that mothers who obediently took birth control pills were more common among mothers with good knowledge (64%) than mothers with poor knowledge (31%). Whereas mothers who were not compliant with taking birth control pills were more common among mothers with poor knowledge (69%) than mothers with good knowledge (36%). The probability value obtained ρ: value 0.021 <0.05 shows that there is a relationship between mothers’ knowledge level about birth control pills and compliance with the use of birth control pills in Harjosari Kidul Village, Tegal Regency.
